Východiska: Moldavský bloger Doru Mihail

Žije a pracuje v hlavnom meste Moldavska, Kišiňove. Tento rozhovor ale vznikol v Budapešti, kde často prichádza kvôli koncertom. “Môj vzťah k hudbe má korene v kazetách a v deväťdesiatych rokoch. Počúval som vtedy veľa hip hopu a potom tiež experimentálnu hudbu, ktorej sa venoval aj môj teraz už neexistujúci hudobný blog Cookshop.”

Jeho blog Cookshop si získal popularitu v určitých, hlavne experimentálnejších okruhoch. Ponúkal recenzie i MP3. Umelcov ale podporoval formou priameho odkazu na nákup daného albumu. Tento rok Doru blog ukončil. “V období medzi rokmi 2006 a 2010, resp. 2011 bolo hudobné pirátstvo MP3 blogov akceptované. Aj známi hudobníci ako Bryan Lewis Saunders alebo Michael Pisaro, ktorý je teraz veľmi populárny v USA, a ďalší mi písali emaily, že môj blog sledujú a sťahujú MP3. Aj pre túto hudobnú elitu to vtedy bolo v poriadku,” dodáva. Momentálne má v pláne spolu so svojou sestrou založiť label a vydávať hudobníkov nielen z balkánskeho regiónu, ale aj zo zahraničia.

Doru Mihail is a music fan and as is often the case, he has tried his hand at several aspects of his passion. For several years, he run the popular music blog Cookshop, which focused on experimental genres. He helped organise concerts and has other plans related to music. He lives and works in Moldova's capital Chisinau. This interview was conducted in Budapest, where he often comes to attend concerts. “My relation with music goes back to cassettes and the 90s. A lot of hip hop in the post 90 era, followed by a lot of experimental music, which my music blog called the Cookshop RIP helped promote.”

His blog Cookshop gained popularity in certain, mostly experimental circles. Aside from reviews, it also offered MP3's. The blog supported the artists it featured via direct links to the purchase of the said albums. This year, Doru decided to close the blog. “There was a certain period between 2006 and 2010-11, when MP3 pirating was still acceptable. I got emails from Bryan Lewis Saunders and Michael Pisaro, and other very strong artists, who were following my blog and downloading the music. Even for this musical elite, this was acceptable back then,” he says. At the moment he is planning to set up a label together with his sister, and release Balkan-based and foreign artists.
