Clarinet Factory: Jedeme do Ameriky

Filozofii Clarinet Factory (dříve CCQ) vystihuje ústřední postava kvarteta Jindřich Pavliš: “Nechceme být jen interprety a klarinetisty. V klasice a jazzu jsme interprety, v mezižánrových projektech i tvůrci. Dříve jsme hráli na klarinety a aranžovali, teď víc improvizujeme, komponujeme, obsluhujeme i jiné nástroje a zpíváme. Chceme být souborem, který má co sdělit. Ne muzeem!” Čtveřice se za dvě desetiletí existence díky koncertům podívala do Belgie, Bulharska, Litvy, Lucemburska, Německa, Nizozemí, Polska, Portugalska, na Slovensko, do Slovinska, Senegalu a Španělska. V roce 2005 Clarinet Factory vyhráli Mezinárodní skladatelskou soutěž v americkém Nashvillu v kategorii Instrumental, přičemž členy poroty jsou takové osobnosti jako Robert Smith, Tom Waits nebo Jerry Lee Lewis. Do soutěže zaslalo své skladby na 15.000 uchazečů z 80 zemí světa! V roce 2008 si je z mnoha interpretů vybral v rámci svého vůbec prvního vystoupení v České republice Bobby McFerrin.

U nás spolupracují například s Janou Koubkovou, Lenkou Dusilovou, Petrem Niklem a v poslední době se stává jejich stálým hostem perkusionista Alan Vitouš. Každoročně se pouštějí do organizování multimediálního happeningu v zatopeném lomu v Něčíně s hudbou, projekcemi a fireshow za účasti dalších hudebníků. Jde zkrátka o soubor, který se nebojí přesahů a baví ho experimentovat. Diskografie čítá pět albových projektů, na kterých se CF podíleli a v roce 2013 Supraphon vydal při příležitosti 20. výročí vzniku Clarinet Factory dvojalbum Works & Reworks, obsahující řadu unikátních remixů z dílny respektovaných producentů jakými jsou bvdub, Sylvain Chauveau, Hidden Orchestra, Floex, Marsen Jules, aus nebo Christopher Willits.

Jindřich Pavliš, the quartet’s leader, describes Clarinet Factory’s (former CCQ) philosophy: “We don’t want to be mere performers and clarinettists – we’re performers of classical music and jazz, but on our cross-genre projects we also contribute as writers. We used to just play clarinet and make arrangements, but now we’re more into improvisation, composing, playing other instruments and singing. We want to be a group that has something to say and not just a music museum!” Over two decades, the quartet has travelled to Belgium, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Senegal and Spain.
In 2005, Clarinet Factory won in the Instrumental category at the International Songwriting Competition in Nashville, whose jury members include such greats as Robert Smith, Tom Waits and Jerry Lee Lewis. About 15,000 groups from over 80 countries across the world submitted songs to the contest. In 2008, Bobby McFerrin selected them, from among numerous performers, to join him for his first show in the Czech Republic.

On the domestic front, they collaborate with Jana Koubková, Lenka Dusilová, Petr Nikl and they have lately been working with the percussionist Alan Vitouš. Each year, they organise a multimedia gathering in a flooded quarry in Něčín, with a programme of music, screenings and fire-shows featuring guest musicians. They’re also not afraid to delve into different genres either and have a keen interest in experimentation. Their discography consists of five CF collaborations and, in 2013 on their 20th anniversary, Supraphon released their double-record, Works & Reworks, containing a number of unique remixes from the workshops of respected producers such as bvdub, Sylvain Chauveau, Hidden Orchestra, Floex, Marsen Jules, aus and Christopher Willits.
